Virgin Mobile USA Inc said on Friday it will buy SK Telecom Co Ltd's money-losing U.S. mobile unit, Helio, for $39 million in stock, hoping a combination of their youth-focused services will help weather a slowing economy. South Korea's SK will also invest an additional $25 million in Virgin Mobile, as will the Virgin Group, which jointly owns Virgin Mobile with Sprint Nextel Corp....

Microsoft Corp. today announced improvements to Windows Mobile, including a plan to add desktop-browsing quality seen in Internet Explorer 6 for new smart phones by the end of the year.
The new version of IE Mobile will make it easier to pan and zoom through Web pages and to access the Web at the outset from a phone, said John Traynor, senior director of mobile communications at Microsoft. "It's going to be much closer to the desktop experience," he said. ...
